The following is a website I created for a new eco-tourism outfit based in Costa Rica. The goal of the organization is to posit education as a central principal in tourism. They hope to inspire the people who visit to return home with a new drive to help protect the fragile ecosystems of the region.

The site is simply one page that gives introductory information about the outfit and provides contact information for arranging tours. It has been built using a CSS-based layout and validates in the following areas:
I tied imagery from Costa Rica into a form inspired from cover and poster designs from the early to mid 1800’s America. The use of soft outlines for some elements are drawn from Japanese woodcuts fromthe 18th & 19th centry. The typefaces I use for the title have their roots in the Reniassance. And finally, the styling of the top nav bar are influced by Bodoni’s work from the early 19th centryitaly and reinterpreted through modern, pixel-based design (think Prototype Syndicate).
Typefaces Used: Poetica Std, Ex Ponto Pro, Adobe Caslon Pro, Adobe Garamond Pro (in decorative elements), Unibody 8
Influences: Phil Banes (1989), Neville Brody (1989), Giambattista Bodoni (1818), Joshua Davis (2003), Christian Palino (2003)
